Artists Building Community (ABC) Project partners with NERDS RULE INC.

Artists Building Community (ABC) Project was founded in the spring of 2016 at the University of San Diego. Our mission is to practice art as a means of community engagement and dialogue in order to better our communities, families, and selves in underserved communities. ABC Project was built on Natasha Ridley’s contemporary ballet and Maureen G. Abugan’s visual art backgrounds and on their similar experiences as creative young women of color who grew up in Southeast San Diego. We believe that art has a unique ability to express compelling stories and personal views. Even more so, we believe that art gives us the power to explore our communities and our individual roles within them by encouraging meaningful dialogue and acts of leadership.
